Loud Memory
A beloved New York City raconteur, Ed has captivated audiences with his rare blend of honesty, vulnerability and wit. Ed's voice resonated through the airwaves of The Moth Radio Hour and inspired minds on TEDMed and TEDx stages. Catherine Burns is a luminary in the storytelling world. For over two decades, she was the artistic force behind The Moth, that juggernaut of true tales told live on stage.
On the night before Thanksgiving in 1995, Ed was attacked and stabbed multiple times. The nightmare scenario began with a 10-inch blade plunging into his chest. Then came years of coping with the physical, financial, emotional and finally, the spiritual damage he endured. His long and, at times, absurd journey was assisted by an improbable cast of New Yorkers. We invite you to be transported by a tale that will touch your heart,
challenge your perspective, and remind you that, even when the world
seems without hope, resilience and grace sometimes matter the most.

BASHEVIS'S DEMONS
BASHEVIS’S DEMONS comprises three short stories by legendary Nobel Prize winner Isaac Bashevis Singer and will be presented Off-Broadway direct from engagements in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. BASHEVIS’S DEMONS will make its official Off-Broadway bow at Theatre 154, 154 Christopher Street (between Greenwich & Washington Streets), with performances beginning December 18th through January 5th.
The tales featured in BASHEVIS’S DEMONS serve up demons, saints, sinners, hope, despair, and at least two chickens, all in Isaac Bashevis Singer’s original Yiddish with full English supertitles. In The Mirror, a young woman – ignored by her husband the traveling salesman – steps through a mirror into the world of demons, where she can be the center of attention. In The Last Demon, a Jewish devil fails to bring down a shtetlrabbi. Exiled to the small town as Satan’s punishment, he witnesses the destruction of the Jewish community, including his nemesis the rabbi, by forces far crueler than his own and remains stuck there for eternity with nothing but the Yiddish word to console him.
Starring Shane Baker and Miryem-Khaye Seigel, BASHEVIS’S DEMONS is directed by Moshe Yassur with Beate Hein Bennett.

DORIS
Step inside DORIS’ dimly-lit basement apartment as she puts on the act of a lifetime — a strange cocktail of dramatic sights and sounds conjured by her unnerving imagination. An aspiring actress and has-been that never was, DORIS confronts phantom memories and nightmares born from the dreams she can’t let go in a performance that may be her last.
A found audio pastiche of old Broadway & Hollywood is realized through lip-synched performance, laying bare the identity disintegration, emotional labor, and substance dependencies that can plague the wayward performer perpetually waiting for their star turn.
DORIS was created by Joan Nelson, with Andrew J. Mullins and Cory Savage

GIVING TUESDAY
This year OOTB produced its first full season in our new space at Theater 154. It was incredibly successful thanks to our community, donors, and patrons. OOTB produced over 35 community events and initiatives, produced 3 large workshops/readings under our Building the Box series, and we produced 2 successful productions this season. OOTB led with serving artists first this year with more than half of our operational budget going toward artists’ work and development.
Now more than ever our future is at stake as we continue to advocate for communities in need. OOTB has closed this season with a large deficit. To keep the doors open and our mission alive we could use your support this Giving Tuesday. We know there are a lot of important initiatives this year but if OOTB has supported you or if you have been moved by the work, we hope you will consider donating, sharing, and continuing to support us. We simply can’t do it without your help, and we have so much work to do to change the industry and create an equitable working environment. Thank you for considering us this year!
